Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Inside a mirror I look,
I see our distorted reflection
A mask from a Venetian Carnival
A whisper of silk and feathers
The gondolas pass us by
Singing a lullaby
And amidst our slumber
We fall, we sink
We hit the bottom of the Adriatic sea
And as we choke on the gushing water
Our eyes open
The makeup runs, stains upon our face
Free of the mask,
The blurry vision cleared
as the Truth surfaced
and the mirror shattered
