WINK Writers

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

WINK is in the process of going completely digital. Please read. Some things have changed. MAGAZINE/newsletter GUIDELINES UPDATED MARCH 2024: To expedite the convenience of submissions, we now have a FACEBOOK GROUP PAGE taking submissions. It is titled, WINK WRITERS GROUP. Please look us up and join the group (it’s free), and you may submit there if you prefer. NOTE: You may not hear anything from us other than our comment on your post until we email you a proof copy to correct or approve. That will be our acceptance notification to you. We’ll need your email address, so be sure to message us with that, along with your city, State, and/or country of residence, as soon as we accept your material. You may also send your submissions in the body of an email.

WHO ARE YOU? We are a digital magazine/newsletter dedicated to providing a platform for creative writers nationwide.

HOW DO YOU PAY ME FOR MY WORK? Content contributors will automatically become free subscribers (with the option to upgrade) to our digital newsletter, WINK Writers Showcase, on SUBSTACK.

CAN I SUBSCRIBE NOW? CLICK HERE and use the “Subscribe” button to join us for free, or better, support us and become a paid subscriber (there are perks). All prices, policies, and fees are subject to change without notice.

DO YOU ACCEPT UNSOLICITED and/or SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS? Yes, we are now accepting submissions for upcoming issues. We are interested in essays, short stories, poetry, and articles. We especially want articles on writing and the writing life (500 to 3000 words). Short stories/flash fiction (up to 1200 words) can be on virtually any subject. We like unusual stories with a twist at the end, and we LOVE quirky flash fiction. Surprise us! We prefer free verse and form poetry (up to about 32 lines). Note: we aren’t a platform for political or religious opinions.

WHAT RIGHTS DOES WINK USE? We reserve One-time, North American, Serial, Electronic, and Archival rights. Rights revert to authors, and copyright always remains with authors. Your work may appear in the magazine or the newsletter.

HOW SHOULD I SEND MY SUBMISSIONS?  Email submissions are preferred and should be sent to Nadia Giordana at iinadia@msn.com. You MUST include your name, city and state. Accepted material will receive a response within 30 days.  If you have not heard from us about a submission in over 60 days, you may safely assume we have not chosen your material. Please understand that we copy and paste from your document, and though we may catch and correct an occasional obvious mistake during the course of compiling our magazine, original errors are your responsibility and no proofs will be sent out. We reserve the right to perform minor edits for clarity on scheduled material when deemed appropriate. Submission indicates permission to publish in our print magazine as well as on our SUBSTACK newsletter. We reserve the right to remove from our lineup or move to a later date, any previously accepted material for any reason.  Editor’s decisions are final.

COMMENTS: We accept no responsibility for plagiarism on the part of a contributor. Copyright reverts to individual authors upon publication. We require one-time paper and electronic rights (which means your work may appear in our magazine and/or newsletter). Please note: By submitting to us, you will be added to our Cloud 9 Publishing newsletter email list. Don’t worry, we won’t abuse the privilege, and you have the option to unsubscribe. All prices, policies, and fees are subject to change without notice.

AUTHOR BIOS: We love it when authors send us their bios, it helps us know who you are. Occasionally, we include all or part of an author’s bio in our SUBSTACK newsletter, but we do not promise that your bio will be used.

TYPO AND ERROR POLICY: We follow the generally accepted industry standard as referenced in the New York Public Library’s Writer’s Guide to Style and Usage. We cannot reproduce material in its entirety. We will print an errata/erratum notice in a subsequent issue or on the website.
